The World upright

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, the end of the journey that began with The Fool. It means you have arrived. A goal is reached, a lesson is learned, a cycle is complete.

There is a deep sense of wholeness here. Everything fits together, and you can look back and see how each step led to this one. It's a wonderful card for celebrations, graduations, big achievements and long-awaited results.

The World can also mean travel and a wider horizon, quite literally the world opening up. Completion is not the end. It's the moment just before a new, bigger journey begins.

The World reversed

Reversed, The World shows you are close, but not quite there. Something is unfinished, a loose end needs tying up, or you are hesitating at the final step.

It can also point to taking shortcuts or wanting closure that hasn't come yet. The reversed World asks you to finish what you started properly, so you can move on without looking back.
