A tarot card for every month

This is the classic year ahead spread: one card in the centre for the theme of the year and twelve cards around it, one for each month, like a clock. Add the digits of 2027 and you get 11, the number of Justice in the tarot, so 2027 is a year of truth, balance and fair choices for everyone. Do this spread once, photograph it and come back to each card on the first day of its month.

The Year Ahead Wheel spread

Place card 1 in the centre. Then lay cards 2 to 13 around it clockwise, starting at the top like the hours of a clock: card 2 is January, card 13 is December.

How to read the Year Ahead Wheel spread

1. Settle your space. Find a quiet moment, light a candle if you like, and take three slow breaths.
2. Shuffle with your question. Hold the deck and focus on the year ahead.
3. Lay out 13 cards. Place them in the numbered order shown in the layout above.
4. Read each position, then the story. Look up each card in the card meanings, then read all the cards together as one story.
5. Journal it. Photograph the spread. Re-read each month's card on the 1st of that month.
